Get ready to experience a world of adventure during the Color Your World Summer Reading Program at Upper Sandusky Community Library.
Summer reading begins May 31 and runs through July 31. Participants can pick up a summer reading packet for your age group at the front desk and get to reading! When you complete your packet, bring it back to the library for an entry into one of the prize drawings.
Be sure to check out all the exciting programs for children and adults running throughout the summer reading program, too.
For more information about this or any other library program, stop by the front desk or call the library at 419-294-1345.
ADULTS
When you register for the summer reading reading challenge you will receive a USCL color-changing stadium cup (limited to the first 75 sign-ups) and a reading tracker bookmark. There will be five (5) slots for you to fill in as you read books. Once the bookmark is full, turn it in for an entry to one of our grand prizes. Keep coming back throughout June and July to receive more bookmarks to fill out and earn additional entries.
If that isn't hard enough for you then join the 100 Book Club! This exclusive club debuted in 2023 and a new challenge is issued every summer. When you sign up for the 100 Book Club you will receive a tracking chart where you can record the books you read between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026. The challenge is to read 100 books in a year! If you reach the 100-book milestone within that time frame you'll get to join The 100 Book Club. A reception will be held during the 2026 summer reading program to induct readers into our prestigious readers club. The club is for ages 6+. Adult readers can participate in both challenges during the summer reading program.
Already completed the 100 Book Club? We’re challenging you to do it again - and we’ll have something special in store for you next year if you hit the mark. You can earn extra entries into our grand prize drawings by attending any of our adult programs throughout the Color Your World Summer Reading Program.
TEENS (grades 6-12)
Join our teen/tween summer reading program and read awesome books, attend ridiculously fun programs, and try to win some prizes picked out especially for you by Miss Lisa! How do you earn tickets? Sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program, checkout items from the library (one ticket per checkout per day), or attend any of our fun summer programs. Once you've earned a scratch-off ticket, then scratch off the circle on the front to see if you've won a small prize. After that make sure to fill out the back of the ticket and put it in any of the prize boxes for a chance to win that item. There's no limit to how many tickets you can earn, so keep coming back for more!
KIDS
Bingo is back! Work your way through the Bingo card and mark off each activity that you complete. Each Bingo equals one entry to win a prize of your choice. You will receive a paperback book when you bring in your completed Bingo card.
WEE READ (newborn to age 3)
This program enables even the youngest child to share in the joy of reading! Sign your child up for the Wee Read program and get work work reading together. Caregivers may cross out one (1) symbol for each book read to the child. Adults may bring the completed paper to the library until July 31 to receive a free board book.
