Common Readers: "Something Wicked This Way Comes"

Join the Common Readers Book Discussion Group in October to read Ray Bradbury’s classic, Something Wicked This Way Comes.

“For those who still dream and remember, for those yet to experience the hypnotic power of its dark poetry, step inside. The show is about to begin. Cooger & Dark’s Pandemonium Shadow Show has come to Green Town, Illinois, to destroy every life touched by its strange and sinister mystery. The carnival rolls in sometime after midnight, ushering in Halloween a week early. A calliope’s shrill siren song beckons to all with a seductive promise of dreams and youth regained. Two boys will discover the secret of its smoke, mazes, and mirrors; two friends who will soon know all too well the heavy cost of wishes…and the stuff of nightmares.”

Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library in regular print and audiobook. The book is also available as an ebook and digital audiobook on Libby and hoopla.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room on Tuesday, October 19.

The Common Readers Book Discussion Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Readers can join the group for one, several, or every meeting. The remaining 2021 schedule is as follows: Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury (October 19) and The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (November 16).
